چکیده

Abstract Snail ( Achatina fulica ) is one of the sources duck fodder commonly used by local breeders to meet protein needs poultry farms. However, its shells as a by-product are rarely and just become waste. To overcome this problem, we try utilize waste be source bioceramic. contain lot calcium which can precursor make bioceramics. One bioceramics that has potential tricalcium phosphate (TCP) pyrophosphate (CPP). They mostly material for bone regeneration. It advantages in terms biocompatibility osteoinductivity. In study, synthesized characterized from snails coprecipitation method. was then analyzed using X-Ray fluorescence (XRF), diffraction (XRD), fourier transform infrared (FTIR), energy dispersive (EDX), scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis see characteristic. Based on XRF analysis, snail shell (raw material) contains 81.83% mixed (TCP CPP). Average crystal size 17.00 nm. The surface shape formed particles irregular, also flux, sphere, fracture shaped. Nevertheless, interfering compounds were still found, hence further purification process conducted.

Giant African snail, Achatina fulica, as a snail predator

Individuals of Achatina fulica (Bowdich, 1822) were observed preying on veronicellid slugs at two sites on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. As such, the presence of A. fulica may pose a greater threat to terrestrial mollusc conservation than previously imagined. It is our hope that this note provides some impetus for other researchers to explore the possible predation impacts of introduced populatio...

A new glycosaminoglycan from the giant African snail Achatina fulica.

A new glycosaminoglycan has been isolated from the giant African snail Achatina fulica. This polysaccharide had a molecular weight of 29,000, calculated based on the viscometry, and a uniform repeating disaccharide structure of -->4)-2-acetyl,2-deoxy-alpha-D-glucopyranose (1-->4)-2-sulfo-alpha-L-idopyranosyluronic acid (1-->. This polysaccharide represents a new, previously undescribed glycosam...

Further characterization of the cold agglutinin from the snail Achatina fulica.

The cold agglutinin from the albumin gland of the snail Achatina fulica was purified to homogeneity by using sheep gastric mucin-Sepharose 4B as affinity column followed by gel filtration on Bio-Gel P-300. The homogeneity was checked by alkaline gel electrophoresis, immunodiffusion and immunoelectrophoresis. The purified cold agglutinin is a glycoprotein of native M2 220,000 consisting of three...
